…is a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina. Dr. Orem is trained to treat a variety of behavioral and psychological difficulties using evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. She sees individuals (primarily adults/ teenagers) and couples and specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and severe mental illness such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Her therapy style is direct, collaborative, and strength-based.
Most recently she worked as a clinical psychologist for the United States Navy at Camp Pendleton, CA, where she served as the Internal Behavioral Health Consultant (IBCH) for 15 physicians in an outpatient clinic and focused on treating patients with behavioral contributors to medical conditions. Prior to this she worked for the United States Army, Special Operations Command in Fort Carson, CO, where she delivered empirically supported interventions for active duty military personnel and their spouses.
Dr. Orem has also worked in private practice and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Child Development at California State University.
She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida and completed her Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology at the Veterans Administration San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS), California. Here she received specialized training in the use of cognitive behavior therapy for psychosis (CBTp).
