Amanda Thomas, M.A.
Amanda completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Appalachian State University and her Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at Western Carolina University. She then joined the CBT Counseling Centers in 2018.
Amanda comes to the CBT Counseling Centers with a wide range of clinical experiences including intensive in-home and school-based treatment with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders or behavioral disorders, school-based behavioral and psychological treatment, group and individual therapy with individuals in young childhood through emerging adulthood, and she has extensive training and experience with comprehensive psychological assessment (testing) across all ages and various referral concerns.
Amanda delivers empirically based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with her clients, often incorporating mindfulness. Amanda specializes in working with individuals who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety-related disorders, ADHD, trauma, and ASD. Amanda uses a client-centered approach and tailors treatment to the individual’s needs.
Amanda practices at the West Asheville location and sees children, adolescents, and adults.
