Jenny Betancourt, LCMHC
Jenny Betancourt is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina and Florida. She obtained her Master of Science Degree with a specialization in Mental Health & Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology/Sociology from Florida International University. Jenny has rendered therapeutic services to many populations including but not limited to Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics. Her experience began working with at-risk youth and continued via non-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing accessible clinical services to individuals and families from low economic status. In 2011 she transitioned into Larkin Community Hospital, where she served as a Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Program Director for the North Miami Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program. These programs offered intensive therapy to the co-occurring diagnosis population suffering from mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Jenny has provided clinical services such as individual & group therapy in both the Spanish and English languages. Moreover, she served as an educator for the Graduate Medical Education Program at Larkin Hospital, providing lectures such as the “Introduction to Psychotherapy” to all Psychiatric Medical Residents.
Jenny also served as the direct Clinical Consultant and Project Manager for the Vice President of Behavioral Health at Larkin Hospital in South Miami. She was selected amongst various clinicians to serve in the capacity of Faculty for the Mental Health Judicial Court; Crisis Intervention Training Program offered to officers at large in Miami, Florida. Currently, Jenny renders psychotherapy services and serves as a Qualified Supervisor for the State of Florida Mental Health Counseling Interns. Jenny also offers educational clinical consulting to organizations/corporations at large who seek to innovate leadership in the workplace by integrating mental health educational lectures, workshops, and discussions. Jenny’s experience includes but is not limited to federal probation and court-referred clients, dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, common mental health problems associated with eating disorders, gender and orientation, relationship issues, and the like. Jenny’s clinical intervention of choice is cognitive-behavioral therapy, which focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors while mutually improving emotional regulation and the development of personal effective coping strategies that solve the current presenting problem. Moreover, Jenny believes in the vital importance of establishing rapport with her clients by building an empathetic & trusting relationship that focuses on the “here and now” moment to secure a successful therapeutic outcome.
