Matthew Popielarczyk, LCMHC, LCAS-A
Matthew completed his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois. He has worked with clients in a variety of settings including the Emergency Room, Partial Hospitalization Program, and community mental health.
Matthew has experience working with adults and adolescents with concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, mood and personality disorders, confidence/self-esteem, trauma, grief/loss, and substance/alcohol abuse. He also has a passion supporting clients struggling with gender identity and sexual orientation concerns to navigate associated challenges.
Matthew incorporates evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with a focus on maladaptive attachment, helping clients to uncover and clear negative beliefs developed from memories and previous traumatic experiences.
Matthew works with adults, adolescents (age 14-19), couples, and families.
Matthew practices out of the West Asheville location on New Leicester Highway.
